That’s not how it looked in my Head

20 Mar

So I’ve been working away on an Easter wall hanging…

I had the cutest picture of what it would look like in my head…

But no matter what I did to the thing “in real life” I just couldn’t bring myself to like it!

Have you ever had that feeling with something you were making?

I hope I’m not the only one!

I kept working at it, figuring I’d get to the point where I would be happy with how it came out…

I brought it downstairs last night to show the family…

And was met with uncomfortable silence when I asked what they thought of it…

Not a good sign!

I ripped it all apart BUT I am NOT going to let it win…

There are parts of it that I love, others not so much…

So it’s back to the drawing board…Time for a new, even better, picture in my head!

Since I don’t have this planned masterpiece to share with you today, I’ve been trying to decide what else I have in my stash that might be worth putting out there…

This is what I came up with…

TLOTP-ShowersOfLove_Plain

Considering that around my parts we just got another 11 inches of snow that last couple of days, I’d give just about anything for some simple showers!

C’mon Spring, where you at?!

Anyway, I hope you like them…

I thought it might be a great one to do a little paper piecing with…

Hmmmm…might be a nice little side project…

Can you say procrastination?!

Then I promise to head back to work on little Mister Peter Cottontail…

Rascally little bugger that he is!

Enjoy the Party!

Write it Down! Printable Journal Cards

14 Mar

After coming up with this title, I feel like I should make one more card with the Write It Down caption ‘cuz I kind of like it…

Anyway…here is what I have to share with all of you lovely party people today!

I am a big proponent of memory keeping and journaling…

Although I wish I was better at keeping up with it…

I am constantly buying my kids diaries, scrapbooks, Smash books, etc…

I think it helps teenage angst to get it out and down onto paper…

So I created a set of journal cards for all of us to use…

Journal Card Set

I think having a writing prompt can make it a little easier to get the thoughts flowing…

And I tried to make them pretty simple so they’d be easy to complete…

My Favorite Things…

Important!

Remember…

TLOTP-RememberJournal

You can also get the pdf which has all three on a single page 🙂

I’d love to have my kids complete the Favorite Things card on a regular basis to see how they change…

Might make for a fun trip down memory lane later in their lives…

If you use them I’d appreciate hearing about it!

Now go get writing!

Party like it’s St. Patrick’s Day

12 Mar

As I mentioned in my last post

I had one more idea of something cute to add to my St. Patrick’s Day favors…

And what’s better than a festive party hat?!

I carried through with the same theme from my cupcake toppers and pots of gold

I cut the party hat shape from the sheet of striped paper offered in my free printable from that same post…

Then when about embellishing it…

Buttons and rhinestones and ribbon…oh my!

Gotta love that shiny pom pom!

And a few scrolly silver pipe cleaners for good measure!

I made a couple changes to the original cupcake topper in order to make the medallion for the hat…

Feel free to right click and save the medallion image to your computer if you’d like to use it (for personal use only)…

Which I punched out using a scalloped punch and attached it to a couple more fancy circles using foam tape to give it dimension…

I even found a willing candidate to model it for you!

Makes me want to plant a big one his cheek!
