The Legend of the 5 Kernels – A Thanksgiving Favor

14 Nov

Have you ever heard of the Legend of the 5 Kernels?

I decided to put together some favors for my Sunday School children to remind them of the legend this Thanksgiving…

There are various versions of the story out there…this is what I went with…

There are 3 parts to the legend…

The story of the Pilgrims struggling through their first winter…

And what each of the 5 kernels can remind us of even today…

Lastly, 5 pieces of candy corn to represent the 5 kernels…

I think it is a lovely lesson to share this Thanksgiving…

Would you like to share it too?

Give Thanks Banner

10 Nov

I decided to make a Thanksgiving banner that coordinated with my Thankful Hearts

I started with old Dictionary pages cut into triangles using pinking shears…

And distressed with tea dye ink…

I glued each of the distressed framed letters onto the dictionary pennants…

Lots of glitter and a single rhinestone for each…

Then I put it all together using some vintage lace I had hanging around…

Once I finished the banner, I wanted a couple of Thanksgiving silhouettes to hang it from…

This Pilgrim and Indian were just what I had in mind…

I cut each of the silhouettes out and mounted them onto black cardstock…

Then stuck them into frames…easy peasy…

And here’s the finished product hanging in my Sitting Room…

Wow…it’s really difficult to get a picture of a whole banner… 🙂

It makes me smile every time I walk through the room… 🙂

A Peace Offering – Thanksgiving Collage

19 Nov

I know, I know…I haven’t yet shown you what I did with my I am Thankful printable assortment…I apologize, but I have been VERY busy with my teenagers – between High School Semi-formals, State Cheer Competitions, Senior Locker decorating and Thanksgiving Pep Rally preparations I haven’t had time to work on them…I’ve barely had time to eat or sleep!

I have to get them done in order to use them in a couple of days, so I promise, I will show you eventually! 🙂

In the meantime, I have a quick peace offering:

Thanksgiving Collage - TLOTP

This one is quick and easy, just print it out and frame it up!
